Time for another oil change.

All fluids were good, nothing needed a topping off, and still no oil consumption issues. That’s why I shopped hard for an ‘08. No c onsumption issues after many years of the 1ZZ problems. I also never go beyond 3,500 miles between changes.

The car has no resale value so I sure hope it lasts a few more years!

No resale value is why I’m keeping my Mazda.  I would like to sell it but it’s not worth more than a couple thousand anymore.

I have a 2009 foreign version and yea, we had oil consumption issues with the 2AZ. Luckily it finally failed the consumption test (you need to burn over a 1qt per 12 00 miles to fail ) just under the warranty mileage so we got new piston rings installed at 150k miles.

Does that apply to the 2.4? I’m not familiar with the engine codes. My sister has a 2009 Vibe GT.

Yea, we have the 2.4. We were using 1.5-2 quarts every oil change (5k miles) and finally it got bad enough to fail the test...we had already done the test twice but hadn’t burned enough to fail.

First generation Vibe/Matrix/Corolla odometers do not have the ability to “roll over” 299,999 km or 299,999 mi. No recall or “fix” is currently available for this. Mileage must be kept track of manually until a solution is found. [1]

Well GM isn’t extending the coverage like Toyota did. M y sister hasn’t mentioned anything about an oil consumption issue, but it doesn’t matter anyway.
